Hamas welcomes Algerian president’s anti-normalization stance

The Palestinian movement Hamas welcomed Position of Algerian President Abdelmajid Taboune, who rejects normalization of relations between Arab countries and the Israeli occupation.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said via his Twitter account on Sunday that the group appreciates Taboune’s statements about his categorical rejection of normalization and his commitment to support the Palestinian cause.

The spokesman described Taboune’s words as “an expression of the authenticity of the Algerian position on the question of Palestine”.

Taboune said earlier in the day that the Palestinian cause was and remains “sacred” for Algerians, stressing that his country would not participate and would not bless what he called “the rush to normalization”.
