Yemeni historic landmark collapses in Lahj

One of the historic monuments and palaces was collapsed due to heavy rains in Al Musaymir District of Lahj province, southern Yemen.

According to local media, one of the palaces of Haushabi Sultanate which appeared in the early 19th century, was partially collapsed due to negligence.

Abdel Fattah Jamal Saeed al-Housabi, an official loyal to the UAE-backed southern Transitional Council (STC) called on local authorities ,  international and local organizations to restore and maintain the directorate’s historical monuments which date back to the era of the Haushabi Sultanate.

Al Musaymir was the capital of the Haushabi Sultanate, (now located in Lahj province). The last sultan of the Sultanate of Haushabi was Faysal ibn as-Surur al-Hawshabi until the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen was established in 1967.
