Foreign Ministry Calls for Committee to Investigate Saudi-led Aggression Crimes in Yemen

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Salvation Government has called for the formation of an independent and impartial international commission to investigate all Saudi-led coalition crimes in Yemen.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the international community, UN Security Council, Human Rights Council and humanitarian organisations were urged to fulfil their moral and humanitarian obligations towards the Yemeni people.

“The crimes of the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen, on the ground and human rights, will continue as long as the world turns its back on Yemen and does not move a finger,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry also expressed dismay that the Security Council held a session to consider the implications of the decaying FSO Safer oil tanker which has been anchored off Yemen’s coast of the Hodeidah province for decades and poses a threat to both the livelihood of Yemenis and the environment. The ministry pointed out that “it did not hold any special session to discuss war crimes committed by the coalition forces.”

The Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the war crime committed by the Saudi-led aggression targeting civilians in Al-Masafa area, east of Al-Hazm district, in the northern Al-Jawf province, where 31 people were killed and wounded.

The Ministry indicated that the countries of aggression committed this crime whilst the blood of children and women who were killed last Sunday in the Wishah district of Hajjah province has not yet dried up.

The statement pointed out that since the beginning of the aggression, the Saudi-led aggression has killed about 16700 civilians, including 3750 children and 2370 women. Thousands of citizens, it added, have lost their lives due to an inhumane Saudi blockade that has caused different diseases and prolonged starvation among Yemeni population.

The Foreign Ministry also called on countries that are still selling weapons to Saudi Arabia to immediately stop selling arms so that they are not a continuous partner in killing the Yemeni people.

It further called on the international community, legal organizations and the Security Council to take practical steps to ensure the security of Yemeni people instead of being an accomplice in the murder of the oppressed nation.
