FM sends warning messages against consequences of preventing entry of oil vessels
Yemen’s Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf warned of consequences of continued aggression coalition’s policy of collective punishment by preventing entry of oil and gas derivatives ships.
The move came in letters sent to the foreign ministers of the countries sponsoring the political settlement process in Yemen, the foreign ministers of brotherly and friendly peace-loving countries, the UN envoy to Yemen and the heads of intergovernmental organizations operating under the umbrella of the United Nations.
The Minister noted the continued intransigence of the Saudi-led aggression forces in detaining ships loaded with oil and gas derivatives off the port of Jizan for more than 70 days, despite being subject to inspection procedures in Djibouti and obtaining permits from the United Nations verification and inspection mechanism to enter the port of Hodeidah.
He warned that the continued denial of access to gas and oil derivatives vessels would lead to major supply bottlenecks and catastrophic repercussions in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the need for fuel service sectors, primarily the health sector.
Minister Sharaf stressed that the lack of oil derivatives will prompt citizens and health workers to abandon precautionary measures to prevent the coronavirus, which will contribute to the formation of a large epidemic focus.
He called on peace-loving countries that have a strong influence, as well as the heads of international organizations, to exert efforts and pressure on the countries of Saudi-led coalition to urgently release oil and gas derivatives ships and allow their entry into the port of Hodeidah.
