PM: UN Responsible to Assist Yemenis in Facing Health Disasters

Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, on Sunday, met with the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande, in Sana’a.

 

During the meeting, they discussed the UN role required to confront the corona pandemic in Yemen, in light of the information announced on the recording cases infected with the virus in a number of provinces under the Saudi-Emirati occupation.

 

The meeting touched on the responsibility of the humanitarian system currently operating in Yemen, especially WHO, UNICEF and MSF in supporting the health sector through providing the medical solutions, thermal examination devices and respirators necessary to face any developments related to the coronavirus.

 

The meeting discussed the great importance of the decisions and precautionary measures taken by the Salvation government represented by the Ministerial Committee for Epidemic Control

 

They also focused on emphasizing  the inherent responsibility of the United Nations and its relevant organizations to support the health sector and improve its medical and treatment capabilities in the face of any emergency related to the pandemic by providing a million medical solutions to examine suspected cases and required respiratory equipment. This is in view of the nature of the challenges and problems that the health sector is currently experiencing as a result of the repercussions of the Saudi-Emirati aggression and blockade.
