Turkish police kill young Syrian refugee in cold blood
A young Syrian refugee, named Ali Hamdan al-Asaei (19 years old), was killed on Monday by Turkish police bullets in the southern Turkish province of Adana, which caused angry reactions on social media.
Turkey’s Anadolu Agency quoted the Turkish authorities Tuesday as saying in a statement that police officers of Security Directorate in Sihan District set up a checkpoint in Soju Zadeh neighborhood, and that the Syrian youth was wounded by a live bullet by mistake, after a warning shot after his escape and he did not comply with the request of police to stop.”
The statement indicated that the young man lost his life after attempts to save him in the hospital to which he was transferred.
The statement added that the policeman who shot at the Syrian refugee was temporarily suspended from work, and that judicial and administrative investigations into the case were continuing.
