National salvation govt unveils new agreement with WFP to deliver aid in cash
Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Abdulmohsen Tawoos on Thursday unveiled an agreement with the World Food Program (WFP) to deliver aid in cash.
“Our agreement with WFP came to address what we suffered due to the arrival of spoiled food to Yemen, and today the aid will reach citizen in cash to be able to buy food he wants,” Tawoos told reporters.
Tawoos confirmed Sanaa’s insistence on proceeding with the new agreements with the WFP to correct imbalances of the past.
He explained that the Yemeni people are in difficult conditions due to the war and the siege imposed by Saudi-led coalition, indicating that those aid only reach less than seven million beneficiaries in the north and south of the country and do not cover all needs.
“Stopping aid from international organizations is a pressure card that the coalition has been using since last year, and this proves the brutality of the aggression coalition countries,” Tawoos added.
