Acting Governor of Hodeidah reviews humanitarian situation in Hodeidah with ICRC

Acting Governor of Hodeidah province, Mohammed Ayyash Quhaim discussed on Monday with Celine Degen, the head of the ICRC delegation in the province, the mission’s work and its humanitarian and medical interventions in the province.

During the meeting, Mohammed Ayyash Quhaim stressed the importance of the mission’s role in light of the the siege and aggression on the province.

He further stressed the importance of intensifying the efforts of the mission and all international organizations due to the suffering of citizens of Hodeidah especially the besieged city of ” Ad Durayhimi”, which is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis and a siege by the Coalition of Aggression.

He called on the head of the mission to work to lift the siege on the province, particularly the city of Ad Durayhimi District so that human rights and relief organizations could bring in humanitarian and relief assistance to the besieged population.

Quhaim called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to speed up its promises, in addition to running a medical convoy and setting up a field hospital to provide medical care to residents of the besieged city of “Ad Durayhimi” District.

For her part, the head of the mission praised the attention and follow-up of the provincial leadership to the mission’s tasks and to overcome the difficulties in the progress of its work.

Celine Degen said the commission’s mission will work in the coming period to complete all what has been agreed upon with the local authority and provide the possibilities available to the affected areas, especially the besieged areas.
