National Oncology Center Director: We Need Modern Radiological Device to Treat Patients, Especially Children
Director of the National Oncology Center, Dr. Abdullah Thawaba said Thursday, that the center needs a modern and advanced 3D radiation device to treat patients, especially children.
Dr. Thawaba explained that the children need high-resolution radiation therapy and treating them with regular radiation exposes them to a very high risk and we are forced to do so, even though it represents a disaster.
“We have submitted many notes and appeals to the World Health Organization regarding equipment maintenance contracts and supplying diagnostic and treatment devices and we have not received any response,” he added.
The Director of the National Cancer Center pointed out that, according to the notes, the World Health Organization promised to provide a very important diagnostic device, a ” Falsetto ” and a linear accelerator, and then it did not commit.
Dr. Thawaba added that the closure of Sanaa airport caused death to the Yemeni patient due to the inability to travel for treatment abroad and it prevents the entry of medical supplies, medical devices and chemical drugs.
“700 new cases of children with cancerous tumors are registered in our center for this year among 6000 new cases of different ages,” he confirmed.
