In Pictures: 204 tons of expired food aid destroyed in Sanaa

The National Authority for the Coordination and Management of Humanitarian Affairs and the Customs Department in Sanaa on Wednesday destroyed 204 tons of expired food aid.

 

These food aid have already been provided by the World Food Program (WFP) and were seized expired in Dimnat Khadir district of Taiz province few months ago.

“These materials have entered Yemen as relief aid and they were destroyed because they are expired and found rotten,” said Abdulwahab Sharaf al-Din, chief of the Authority branch in the capital Sanaa.

 

Sharaf al-Din called on the WFP to uplift its humanitarian work and act according to the goals, for which it had been established.

 

“The program should make sure specifications, quality and expiration date of all materials and aid it provide to Yemen, taking in consideration the current situation in the country,” he said.
