Update: Fierce battles in Shabwa, as Transitional Council tries to save its militia
The occupied Shabwa province, southeast Yemen witnessed overnight fierce battles between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militias and Saudi-backed Hadi forces.
Southern sources said on Friday midnight that fierce clashes that erupted hours ago between the two sides at the entrance of Ataq city in Shabwa province have widened and spread to several other areas.
The sources pointed out that the Transitional Council’s announcement on stopping the war and its call for its troops to cease fire, in a statement issued earlier tonight, came as an attempt to save its militias, which suffer unexpected heavy losses, despite reinforcements dispatched from Aden to back them.
