Diplomatic Institute holds workshop on int’l humanitarian law
– The Diplomatic Institute of Foreign Ministry in Sanaa on Tuesday held a workshop on the international humanitarian law for leaders of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Foreign Ministry.
The three-day workshop, organized by the Institute in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), aims at introducing the international humanitarian law and international conventions on the protection of civilians.
At the opening, Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf stressed that the international community, represented by the Security Council and the Human Rights Council, should do its role in reviewing the ongoing violations of international law and international humanitarian law practiced by Saudi-led aggression coalition countries in Yemen.
“The war on Yemen is no longer forgotten as it started despite the paid media campaigns,” the Foreign Minister said. “It has become known to the world thanks to the efforts of sincere people both in the diplomatic field and the international organizations operating in Yemen.”
He called on the international community to support the efforts of the political solution in Yemen, end the aggression, lift the siege and oblige the aggressor states to respect human rights.
