Pompeo: America seeks to form international alliance in Strait of Hormuz
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Washington is seeking to build an international alliance to guard the Strait of Hormuz.
“We are working to change the behavior of the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we are to form an alliance patrolling the Straits of Hormuz in order to keep these sea lanes open,” Pompeo said in an interview with WFTV.
“This alliance will involve countries from all over the world,” he added.
Iran detained the tanker “Stina Empero” in the Strait of Hormuz, last Friday, in response to Britain’s detention of an Iranian tanker in the Strait of Gibraltar, about two weeks ago.
