Head Of Yemeni Media Union Injured In Raids On Sana’a, Union Condemns The Attack
The Yemeni Media Union condemned the attack launched by the Saudi-led coalition against the head of the Union, Mr. Abdullah al-Sabri, a tenant in the capital Sana’a, al-Rebat Street, with an air strike on Thursday morning.
In a statement issued by the YMU, the union said that “the attack on Mr. Abdullah al-Sabri’s house resulted in him sustaining multiple injuries and fractures, in addition to his family members and the loss of one of his children.”
The Union of Yemeni Media considered that the Saudi/American targeting of the Union’s president, who is a civilian journalist, a dangerous and disturbing escalation that contradicts the concepts and principles of international law which criminalize the targeting of journalists and civilians.
In addition, the Union expressed its concern that the targeting is a prelude to committing crimes against Yemeni civilians and is meant to silence the independent media and the voice of the Yemeni people abroad, calling on the international organizations concerned to take a clear position.
The Union also condemned the heinous crime committed by the Saudi warplanes against residential areas in the capital Sana’a, which resulted in more than 52 killed, wounded and missing persons.
Furthermore, it called on international organizations concerned with human rights and the protection of journalists to raise their voices and raise the alarm against the crimes on the Yemeni people and restraining the truth from reaching the rest of the world.
The YMU demanded the national media to raise its voice against such aggression and assume its national responsibilities at this moment, not to succumb to the intimidation of the Saudi-led coalition, and continue to expose its crimes to the world.
