Head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs Abdulqader al-Mortada on Friday said that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the main obstacles in the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement.
Al-Mortada noted, in a statement, that After Sweden Agreement Saudi Arabia issued a directive forbidding any local mediation to lead to a prisoner exchange agreement.
“We launched an initiative to make an exchange of 1000 prisoners on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, but Saudi Arabia stopped any local efforts from the other part to accomplish it,’’ al-Mortada said.
