Saudi authorities arrest Yemeni Sufi religious leader in Jeddah

SANAA, May 8 (YPA) – Saudi authorities on Tuesday have arrested the Yemeni Sufi religious leader and preacher Sheikh Abu Bakr al-Mashhur in the city of Jeddah and took him to an unknown destination, Media outlet reported.

According to the media outlets, a number of Saudi military pickups raided the house of Sheikh Mashhur because of his revival of the Sufi Muslim Council of Ramadan and prayer on the Messenger of Allah at his home in Jeddah.

Sheikh al-Mashhur is one of the most prominent Sufim elders in Yemen and Imam of a mosque in the Al-Nakheel neighborhood.

The sources did not give any further details about him.
