Officials Discuss How to Improve Emergencies in Yemen’s Hospitals

Health Minister Dr.Taha al-Mutawakil met on Tuesday with UNFPA representative Anjali Sen to discuss enhancing the cooperation between the ministry and the organization in Yemen.

In the meeting, al-Mutawakel stressed the importance of speeding up the executive steps agreed with UNFPA to improve the obstetric emergencies in a number of hospitals in the capital Sana’a and the other governorates.

The minister appreciated the efforts exerted by the UNFPA to assist the Ministry’s efforts under the current circumstances of the country.

The meeting stressed on the importance of expanding an activities of the Fund to include field of motherhood and childhood and primary health care.

Yemen has been suffering from a Saudi-led military campaign since 2015, which has caused the worlds worst humanitarian crisis, in addition of pushing the impoverished state to the brink of famine and several epidemics have spreading according to a previous statement by the United Nations.
