The United Nations said its special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, will begin a tour of the region today Saturday, including the Yemeni capital Sanaa and Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said in a conference at the UN headquarters in New York that Martin Griffith will visit Sanaa and Saudi Arabia starting next Saturday on his latest round of consultations with the parties, without elaborating on the duration of the tour and which to start.
Haq added that Griffith is expected to meet in Sana’a with Ansar Allah’s leadership, as well as with General Patrick Cammaert, head of the Houthi redeployment coordination committee, humanitarian coordinator Liz Grande, and in Riyadh he is expected to meet with exiled Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and other officials.
General Cammaert held meetings with both parties, particularly as the cessation of hostilities in Hodeidah remained consistent.
Cammaert heads the Coordination Committee for Redeployment, which includes three military members from the government side and three Houthi, whose mission is to monitor the cease-fire and withdraw Houthi and coalition forces from the city and the port of Hodeidah.
In the same context, the people of Hodeidah province organized a mass rally through the streets to demand the United Nations and the Special Envoy to expedite the implementation of the Sweden Agreement.
The demonstrators demanded the United Nations quickly implement the Swedish agreement and chanted slogans demanding invaders and occupiers to leave immediately and without any condition of their city.
This war has made three-quarters of the population in need of humanitarian assistance and pushed the country to the brink of famine, the United Nations has considered the crisis facing the Arab country as the worst in the world.
