A senior source in the Yemeni capital Sana’a revealed a new condition given by the authority of the Supreme Political Council to the United Nations through its international envoy Martin Griffith while he was in Sana’a on the issue of the release of prisoners and detainees from each side.
The source told “YemenExtra” that “Ansar Allah stipulated – in terms of measures to build confidence -the release of prisoners and detainees from both sides – to include detainees and prisoners at the party of the Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US,to release all detainees in secret Emirates detention centers in the southern provinces, The source added that these detainees also include those affiliated with the pro-coalition Islah Party and its military supporters.
According to the latest information received from the Swedish capital, the delegation of Riyadh rejected the request of the delegation of Sanaa to release the southern detainees in the secret prisons of the UAE in the southern and eastern provinces.
According to international reports, the detainees, the disappeared and the prisoners in the secret Emirates detention camps in the southern and eastern provinces of Yemen are hundreds, most of them from the Islah Party, the most prominent political component supporting the Saudi-led coalition in its war against Yemen.
However, an international party has convinced the UAE to get rid of the problem of the detainees in its secret prisons in the southern governorates.
Then The National Committee for Prisoners and Detainees in Sana’a called on the families of the detainees and those in in the secret prisons of the United Arab Emirates to communicate with the Commission and provide them with the statements of their detained relatives in UAE prisons.
It is assumed that the statements of prisoners, detainees and hidden persons from each party will be handed over to the United Nations team in Stockholm on Sunday, which will in turn hand over these reports to the ICRC team, which will wait until each party present their replies to the other party’s statement and then the release process will start under the supervision and mediation of the ICRC, and sources in the delegation of Sana’a confirmed earlier that the file of prisoners and detainees will be completely finished in two to 3 months.
Head of Yemen’s National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdulqader al-Mortadha, said on Sunday that the Saudi-backed pro-Hadi delegation has called for the postponement of a prisoner swap.
“We were ready today to exchange the lists of prisoners under the set deadline, but the Riyadh-supported group requested to put off the process until tomorrow,” Yemen’s al-Masirah television network quoted him as saying.
Citizens from Yemeni southern provinces on Saturday held in the capital Sanaa a press conference on Yemeni consultations in Sweden, announcing the mandate of Sanaa national delegation in the consultations. In the conference, Governor of Aden province Tariq Sallam confirmed the support of the southern and eastern provinces people for the national delegation in the consultation.Sallam said that the people of the southern and eastern provinces would not allow the continue violations of the coalition forces to tear the society.
In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 60,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.
Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
However, Saudi Arabia relies heavily on the US in its brutal war on Yemen. Washington has deployed a commando force on the Arab kingdom’s border with Yemen to help destroy arms belonging to Yemen’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement. Washington has also provided logistical support and aerial refueling.
Aden city, which was occupied by UK but now under the control of UAE, and the rest of the southern cities witness an insecurity situation that increased the assassinations of Imams of mosques and security and military leaderships
The province of Aden also witnesses a security fiasco that escalated with killings, looting issues , in addition to others that never happened before.
