Marib authorities condemn coalition’s crimes against detainees

A leadership of the local authority in the Marib province strongly condemned the murder of one of detainees who was being tortured into jails run by the Saudi-led coalition in the city of Marib.

The authority said in a statement that the murder of Abdullah Ali Saeed Qaran, as a result of torture he received in the prisons of the coalition forces in the city, came within a series of crimes committed by the coalition and its tools against prisoners, detainees and citizens of the province.

The statement noted that this crime added to dozens of deaths recorded in the prisons of the coalition in Marib, as a result of torture, electric shocks, beatings, deprivation of food and drink, and preventing visits by their families.

It held the coalition and Islah Party militias the legally and morally responsible for the crimes that the detainees are subjected to.

The authority’s statement called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to carry out their humanitarian duty towards the criminal acts committed by the coalition forces against the abductees, and to visit prisons to see what detainees are subjected to in the kinds of torture and ill-treatment.
