Yemen, OCHA discuss humanitarian situation in Ibb province
A local secretary-general in Ibb province Amin al-Warafi has discussed with United Nations Resident Representative and the Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen William Grisley the humanitarian situation in the province in light of the continued aggression and siege.
In the meeting, al-Warafi and Grisley dealt with the repercussions of the continued detention of oil derivatives ships on various sectors and the suffering of citizens.
In the meeting, al-Warafi referred to the difficult humanitarian situation in the province and the need of poor families and displaced people for relief assistance.
He stressed that Ibb needs to support the drinking water network, sewage projects, hygiene and improvement sectors, health, education, and others.
Al-Warafi expressed his hope that the United Nations and its organizations would assume responsibility for providing humanitarian support and implementing the necessary interventions in various projects in light of the current conditions the country is going through.
For his part, Grisley stressed the keenness to improve the humanitarian situation in Ibb by searching for sources of funding for humanitarian needs.
He indicated his understanding of the Ibb’s humanitarian needs and service projects, stressing the importance of strengthening the partnership between local authority bodies and organizations, determining the course of projects, and responding to their implementation.
