Demonstrations demanding expulsion of Islah militants expand from Hadramout in Lahj
Dozens of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s supporters demonstrated on Saturday in Tor Al-Baha district in Lahj province, southern Yemen, to demand the expulsion of Islah Party militants from the areas they control in the southern provinces.
Local sources said that the participants in the demonstrations chanted slogans demanding the removal of Islah militants from areas of Hadramout province and Shoqra city in Abyan province.
The Emirati journalist Amjad Taha, who is close to Mohammed bin Zayed and the regional head of the British Center for Middle East Studies, had revealed in a tweet on his account on Twitter orders for the Saudi-led coalition forces requiring the exit of Islah militants from their areas of control in the Hadramout valley and desert and the deployment of the so-called “Al-Amaliqa” forces instead of them to secure Hadramout.
These demonstrations coincide with the widespread movements of the so-called “Hadrami Uprising”, which calls for the expulsion of Islah militants from Hadramout areas and stopping the looting of the province’s wealth.
