Minister of Foreign Affairs meets new head of UNMHA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Hisham Sharaf Abdullah, met on Tuesday with the Head of the United Nations mission appointed as head of the support team for the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee in Hodeida, Major General Michael Perry.
In the meeting, the foreign minister welcomed the head of the Hodeida agreement support team, Major General Perry, praising the efforts of the deputy chief of staff, Daniela Kroslak, whose term of office has also ended, and her role in following up on the redeployment plan in Hodeida during the past two years.
He pointed out the importance of the commitment to implement the Stockholm Agreement, as the countries of aggression and their allies are still targeting civilians in the Hodeida Governorate.
Minister Sharaf stressed the importance of implementing confidence-building measures, as a necessary step to enter into any future political settlement process. At the same time, he stressed the need for any efforts towards achieving peace to include neutralizing the economic process, stopping manipulation of the national currency, and ensuring the entry of oil and food derivatives ships through the port of Hodeida, the payment of salaries of state employees, and the reopening of Sana’a International Airport.
