Deformities, Cancers Terrifyingly Increased Among Yemeni Children due to US-Saudi Prohibited Weapons

The continuation of the US-Saudi aggression and siege on the airport and port, negatively affected the health of the mother and child directly. The air, water and food of Yemenis have become polluted due to toxic gases from weapons and forbidden germ bombs dropped by US-Saudi warplanes on Yemen, indicating that Yemen is suffering from the worst epidemic disaster.

The Secretary-General of the Yemeni Pediatric Society at the September 21 University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Dr. Noura Nour Al-Din, said: “Yemen has become like a field of experiments for using the prohibited weapons that have caused cases of fetal death and congenital malformations among newborns.”

“What is more painful is that Yemeni families are unable to treat their children because of the low economic situation, in addition to their being killed by air raids and with various weapons while in their homes,” she added.

The United Nations recognized in its report issued last November, that a Yemeni child under the age of five dies every 9 minutes due to the war, the lack of food, clean water and health care, and the deterioration of various basic services.

As for UNICEF statistics for the year 2020, it confirms that 7 million and 400,000 people suffer from malnutrition, including 2 million children under the age of five.

The World Food Program also indicated a significant increase in severe acute malnutrition rates by 16-22% during the current year, between Children under the age of five during the past year, and the catastrophe is the fact that the United Nations and international organizations did not move a finger to stop the war.

“There are many common diseases that have killed tens of thousands of children annually, foremost among them are malnutrition, meningitis, pneumonia, watery diarrhea, measles, and the absence of health care services contributed to the spread of these diseases, ” Dr. Noura said.

The Yemeni Ministry of Health stated in a report published last March that over 265,000 children died per year, due to major childhood diseases. More than 5 million Yemeni women of childbearing age are malnourished, in addition to 300,000 malnourished mothers, according to the report.

“Unfortunately, some of the old epidemic diseases that had disappeared and we used to read about them in scientific references returned and resurrected in Yemen, such as diphtheria that killed many children, although the world is aware of the extent of the disaster and the humanitarian situation in Yemen, Dr. Noura added.

Spread of Cancer Among Children

“We witness at the present time a very dangerous situation of the birth of congenitally deformed children, and the terrifying spread of cancers of various kinds among children, mostly leukemia, amid a tragedy of the lack of chemotherapy for the treatment of these diseases.

During the past six years of the aggression, the air, water and food became polluted by weapons, germ bombs, toxic gases, and other prohibited weapons that the US-Saudi warplanes dropped on Yemen.

They caused the spread of epidemic diseases, fetal deaths and congenital malformations for newborns, constituting the worst epidemiological disaster threatening the fetuses.

International Organizations Exploit Yemenis Suffering

“The intervention of international organizations does not meet the minimum actual need, and does not contribute to reducing the diseases that rise from year to year, Dr Noura said.

“The international organizations exploit the various sufferings of Yemenis and their intervention is nominal and may be temporary,” she added.

They have no effect on saving the children in Yemen, because they spend international donations in marginal aspects of training, rehabilitation and field surveys and large operating expenses due to the financial corruption in order to keep the suffering among Yemenis.
