Poland extends state of emergency on border with Belarus

Poland’s Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski on Wednesday announced a three-month extension of the state of emergency on the border with Belarus until March 2022.

“Starting tomorrow, three decrees will come into effect concerning the protection of Poland’s eastern border,” Kaminski wrote on Twitter.

“The most important is the ban of access to areas still under a state of emergency,” he said, adding that “these measures will be applied  for 3 months.”

Poland imposed a 30-day state of emergency on the border sector with Belarus on September 2nd, which would later be extended to 60 days until December 2, preventing anyone except border guards and other security forces from reaching the area.
