Shura Council: UN Security Council Ignores War Crimes Committed by US-Saudi Aggression Against Yemenis

The Shura Council condemned the policy pursued by the UN Security Council in dealing with the issue of peace and war in Yemen.

In a statement issued by the Shura Council, it denounced the Security Council’s continued condemnation of the legitimate right of the Yemeni people to defend themselves and the sovereignty of their country, while ignoring the war crimes that are committed by US-Saudi aggression against Yemenis, the bombing with internationally prohibited weapons and siege for seven years.

The statement considered that the Security Council lacked the minimum fairness in its handling of the Yemeni issue, which does not build confidence and does not help achieve peace.

It said that the Security Council also encourages the US-Saudi aggression and mercenaries to continue committing more crimes and violations against the Yemeni people on a daily basis.

The Shura statement indicated that the Security Council’s continued adoption of this unfair policy and the clear bias of the aggressors on Yemen’s land and people will exacerbate the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and increase the suffering of more than 25 million citizens in light of the shameful silence of the international community.

The statement called on the Security Council to bear the responsibility in alleviating the  suffering of the Yemeni people and to stand with the Yemeni people’s issue seriously and fairly, and not condone the crimes that have been committed by the aggression against the Yemeni people for seven years.
