Islah militants arrest activist in Taiz

A military force affiliated with Islah party,  the Yemeni branch of Muslim brotherhood, arrested a political activist in Taiz province, southwestern Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal,  based on testimony of local sources.

According to the sources, Abdul Rahman Alshuja’a, the commander of the of the 22nd Brigade Mika, who is being  accused  of committing  several crimes in Taiz city,  summoned the head of the hungry revolution bloc, activist Abdullah Abdo Othman Alareqi, to the old provincial building in the city, before arresting him and take him to the security department on Sunday evening.

The sources added that activist was arrested without any charge.

Alareqi has play a major role in the popular movement, which condemned the deteriorating living conditions and the collapse of the currency, the sources said.

The same sources pointed out that the security department forced the family of the activist to hand over his phone in exchange for his release, but this was not achieved.
