YCLU head meets ILO’s chief advisor
Head of the Yemeni Confederation of Labor Unions (YCLU) Ali Bamuhaison has met in Sana’a chief advisor of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Joseph Connolly.
Bamuhaison and Connolly touched on the suffering of Yemeni workers as a result of the continuation of the aggression, the siege, and the suspension of salaries, which greatly affected the standard of living, including the absence of the organization’s role in this regard.
They stressed the unity of the labor unions movement represented by the YCLU and the need to restore the partnership between the YCLU and the ILO as well as the return of programs that were funded such as the Decent Work Project, projects to combat the worst forms of child labor, support and empowerment of working women, and rehabilitation of unorganized employment.
In the meeting, Connolly explained that the ILO has long-standing union roots, pointing out that the ILO is working in many conflict areas in the world to help develop a strategic plan to deal with urgent requirements in coordination with country federations.
