Food stores close their doors to citizens in Aden due to currency collapse

Food shops in the city of Aden on Tuesday closed their doors to citizens, against the background of the collapse of the local currency in Aden and the rest of Yemeni southern provinces occupied by the Saudi-led coalition.

Eyewitnesses reported that most of the shops selling foodstuffs closed their doors in Mualla area due to the crazy rise in prices.

Groceries owners have closed their stores due to the instability of food prices on a daily basis and their fear of the accelerated collapse of the riyal against foreign currencies.

Since mid-September, the city of Aden has witnessed angry protests due to the deteriorating living conditions, insecurity, and the complete collapse of basic services in the city.

The “Hadi government” appointed by the coalition did not implement any economic reforms, in light of the latter controlling ports and airports, seizing oil and gas revenues in the occupied provinces, and depriving citizens of the most basic services.
