Human Rights condemns mercenaries’ crimes in Taiz

The Human Rights Office in Taiz province condemned on Monday all the crimes of murders and kidnappings committed by the mercenaries against civilians and all the incidents resulting from the escalating insecurity in the occupied city of Taiz.

In a statement, the Human Rights Office stated the areas controlled by the mercenaries of aggression have become the scene of killings, kidnappings and torture of civilians without trial, expressing concern over the deterioration of the human rights situation in such areas.

The statement referred to the killing of the citizen Ahmed Yasser Abdullah al-Shamiri, 20, a month after his kidnapping, the kidnapping of the merchant Hisham Al-Zariqi, the killing of the citizen Munif al-Maqtari, as well as the crime of storming and looting the house of WFP representative Aisha Jabari and the assault on her elderly aunt.

It stressed that such crimes against civilians are war crimes in accordance with the international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

The statement urged all the international and local human rights organizations to assume their humanitarian responsibilities, to monitor and document these crimes, and to work to limit the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the city of Taiz.
