President meets head of Cancer Control Fund

President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat has met with head of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Control Fund Dr. Abdul Salam al-Madani.

During the meeting, al-Mashat and al-Madani discussed the work progress and the difficulties faces the fund and how to overcome them.

President al-Mashat referred to the suffering of cancer patients as a result of the unjust US siege and the closure of Sana’a airport.

He stressed the importance of capacity building and qualifying doctors specializing in cancer, and focusing on qualifying medical cadres in the field of diagnosis.

“If we do not have the full capacity to diagnose the disease, all our capabilities will be worthless,” he said.

President al-Mashat praised the great and tangible efforts of the Cancer Control Fund in opening new units to combat the disease in Hajjah and Sa’ada, and the preparations for the opening units in Mahweet, Raymah and Dhamar provinces.
