Water Ministry, ICRC discusses cooperation in water field

Water and Environment Minister Abdul-Raqib al-Shurmani has discussed with the coordinator of the water department in the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) joint cooperation in the water area.

The meeting touched on the efforts made by the ICRC mission regarding the information and technical reports that were gathered over the repair of a water pipeline from Bajil district to Hodeida province.

It discussed the possibility of the ICRC mission to provide generators for a drinking water processing plant in the capital Sana’a as well as providing spare parts to keep pace with the expansion of the water map in the capital.

Al-Shurmani stressed the importance of working in the field of water so as to find alternative solutions to provide water until the completion of the repair of the pipeline.

He also affirmed the importance of supporting local water cooperation in Hodeida with diesel as well as supporting solar water projects, especially in light of the aggression’s continued detention of oil ships.

In return, the water department coordinator affirmed the willingness to support the efforts of the Ministry according to the available capabilities.
