UN calls on Int’l donors to allocate $ 3.85 billion to support Yemen

The United Nations has called on donor countries to allocate $ 3.85 billion to fund humanitarian aid in Yemen in 2021.

In a news statement, held in Geneva, the UN expected, during this year, to provide support and humanitarian assistance 16 million Yemenis, to prevent widespread a starvation in this country.

The statement affirmed that the two thirds of the population in Yemen need to the aid, noting that about half of the country’s children under the age of five suffer from acute malnutrition, and 400,000 of them could die from severe malnutrition if they do not receive urgent treatment.

More than 100 countries are participating, at the ministerial level, in the international fund-raising event for Yemen during a meeting, which is organized on Monday by the UN, Switzerland and Sweden.

Yemen is witnessing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, according to United Nations reports, due to the war has been launched by the Saudi-led coalition forces since March 26, 2015.
