Health, Agriculture, Hygiene Sectors Warn Catastrophic Disaster due to Oil Crisis by US-Saudi Aggression

Yemen Petroleum Company, with the participation of a number of ministries, held a press conference to reveal the disastrous effects of the US-Saudi aggression’s detention of oil derivative tankers for ten months.

During the press conference, the Yemeni Ministry of Health confirmed that “public and private hospitals throughout the republic are threatened with closure during the next few days due to the oil derivatives crisis.

It explained that “warning calls were received from all hospitals and health centers about the decline in their health services and the imminent closure of their doors if the countries of aggression continued to prevent the entry of oil derivatives.”

The Ministry also indicated that more than 220 caesarean operation are difficult to perform during the next 24 hours, and 200 newborns are threatened daily with death if hospital incubators are closed due to a lack of oil products, noting that the vital departments in hospitals (intensive care, operations, incubators) threatened with suspension.

The ministry pointed out that nearly 5,000 patients with kidney failure are life-threatening due to the severe shortage of oil products allocated to fifteen dialysis centers in a number of governorates. Nearly 200,000 diabetics also are life-threatening as they need insulin, which needs proper cooling, in light of severe indications that their cooling devices will soon stop.

The Ministry of Health held the United Nations and the international community responsible for the repercussions of the detention of oil derivative tankers.

The Ministry of Electricity

The Yemeni Ministry of Electricity condemned the actions of the aggression countries to detain oil derivatives, which have a great impact on the Yemeni citizens’ lives, denouncing the continuation of the aggression coalition piracy against oil derivatives tankers.

The Ministry held the United Nations, the international community and international organizations responsible for the consequences of silence over the crimes of aggression, and the catastrophic effects that will occur as a result of the detention of the oil tankers, stressing that drinking water stations are likely to stop within a few days due to the continued siege.

The Ministry of Electricity called on the international community, human rights bodies and organizations and the United Nations to take a firm stance and press to lift the blockade on oil products before the disaster.

Ministry of Agriculture

The Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture stated that the seizure of oil derivatives has caused desertification of agricultural areas and this threatens food security, noting that the equipment for reclamation of agricultural lands has stopped due to piracy and aggression on oil derivatives.

Ministry of Trade and Industry:

The Ministry of Trade and Industry said, “We do not beg anyone. We appeal to the revolutionaries and the free people of the world to stand by Yemen so that this injustice ends.”

The Ministry of Trade added, “We say to the organizations that earn money, claiming to help Yemen, to see the disaster that occurs due to the continued detention of oil derivatives”.

The Ministry indicated that about 2000 tankers loaded with foodstuffs were stopped due to the lack of oil products, stressing that we should not talk about the blockade of oil only, we demand to completely lift the blockade on Yemen.

Ministry of Communications:

The Ministry of Communications said, “We are totally dependent on oil derivatives and now parts of our sectors are starting to go out of service due to the lack of oil and diesel.”

It stressed that the continued seizure of oil by the aggression will cause a disaster in Yemen, as its demands that the free world stand by the Yemeni people and pressure the US-Saudi aggression to lift the siege.

Hygiene sector:

The Hygiene sector in Sana’a warned that all cleaning equipment will stop working, indicating that the transfer of two thousand tons of waste from inside the capital city will also stop.

The sector indicated that 18 tons of medical and hazardous waste are transported from the Municipality of the Capital, and the suspension of its transportation will cause a major environmental disaster.

The cleaning sector made it clear that we only have stocks for the coming hours, stressing that the United Nations is responsible for the blockade.

Petroleum Company:

The Company confirmed that “the US-Suadi aggression kidnapped and detained oil derivatives tankers for more than ten months,” noting that the United Nations issues transit permits without effect.

It stressed that the intensification of the siege on Yemen leaves a tragedy and a disaster and threatens the lives of patients in hospitals and citizens after power cuts on water, hygiene, transportation, agriculture and all sectors.
