Deputy FM meets OCHA director
Deputy Foreign Minister met here on Sunday with the new Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the capital Sana’a.
In the meeting, Hussein al-Ezzi affirmed the OCHA official, Sajjad Mohammad Sajid, will receive all necessary support and facilities for the success of his mission in Yemen.
Al-Ezzi referred to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, which is classified as ”the worst humanitarian disaster in the modern era” as a result of the siege and the military aggression that has been going on for nearly six years.
He stressed the importance of commitment to joint action and in full harmony with the national laws to overcome any obstacles that may arise as well as keenness on serious cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
On his part, Sajid affirmed keenness on adopting transparency as a major principle in humanitarian work, stressing at the same time the United Nations’ firm stance in raising the pace of humanitarian work in Yemen.
He pointed out the humanitarian situation in Yemen receives the attention and care of the United Nations.
