FM: Ongoing Aggression, Siege Doubled Repercussions of Humanitarian Disaster in Yemen
Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Hisham Sharaf discussed on Saturday with the Resident Representative of the UN World Food Program (WFP) in Yemen, Laurent Bukera, the WFP’s activities in Yemen for 2021.
During the meeting, Sharaf stated that the ongoing aggression and comprehensive siege have doubled the repercussions of the humanitarian disaster in Yemen.
“There is a noticeable increase in the number of people in need of humanitarian aid, including the displaced, which requires more humanitarian aid,” he added.
For his part, the WFP Resident Representative pointed out that the problem lies in the lack of funding by donors.
“This clearly has a negative impact on the WFP’s plans to provide aid and support to the Yemeni people,” Bukera added.
