Justice Minister meets UN Women office team’s representative
Minister of Justice Judge Dr. Mohammed al-Dailami has met with the UN Women office team’s representative Shakib Alkhayyat.
In the meeting, al-Dailami signaled the importance of coordinating efforts to protect and care for women and children so as to strengthen the child justice system.
He affirmed the ministry’s keenness to coordinate with the concerned authorities in many fields, including child and women’s justice fields.
The minister praised the efforts of the UN Women office in taking care of the issues of women and children in Yemen.
He pointed out the need for interventions to be tangible in order to achieve positive outcomes in reality, and not to be satisfied with activities of a coordination nature, meetings, workshops.
The UN representative pointed out that the United Nations Women Office has implemented projects to support and rehabilitate women and seek to strengthen and support government agencies regarding women in contact with the law who have been released in relation to legal aid, emergency needs, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs, and others.
AlKhayyat asserted that the United Nations Women Office seeks to enhance the role of the authorities related to women’s justice in order to ensure coordination and unification efforts.
