Hamas: Israel will pay the price for the attack on the prisoners in Eichel prison

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced On Monday, full readiness of the resistance to respond to the Israeli occupation’s aggression against Palestinian prisoners in its prisons.

“We hold the occupation government responsible for the attack on captured leaders Jamal Abu Al-Haija and Hassan Salameh,” the group said in a statement.

“The barbaric aggression was carried out by the prison service forces against prisoners in Ishal prison,” the statement read

“The sinful aggression carried out by the repressive forces in prison against our heroic prisoners is a complex crime that the occupation will pay for.”

Nahed al-Fakhouri, director of the Palestinian prisoners’ media told “Anadolu Agency” that “there is a lot of tension in Eichel prison after the Al-Mutsada (military) unit stormed section 10 in a barbaric manner.”

“Breaking into prisoners’ rooms in a barbaric manner without the slightest regard for the presence of patients and the elderly cannot be tolerated and portends an imminent explosion inside prisons,” he said.

“The use of guns to break into the prison poses a real threat and a great danger to the lives of prisoners,” al-Fakhouri said.

Earlier on Monday, The Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ashtayyeh held the Israeli government responsible for the life of prisoner Maher al-Akhras, who is on hunger strike for the 78th day of administrative detention (without trial).

On July 27, al-Akhras was arrested and transferred to administrative detention by The Israeli authorities, prompting him to declare a strike.

Israel detains some 5,000 Palestinians in its prisons, including 43 women, 180 children and 430 administrative detainees, and 700 sick detainees are also held in captivity, according to data from the Prisoners’ affairs .
