Hotel building collapses in downtown Seiyun city

A hotel building collapsed on Sunday in the center of Seiyun city,  Hadhramaut province,  eastern Yemen, without causing any casualties.

Local sources confirmed that t the Sharjah Hotel, located near the historic Seiyun Palace, collapsed on Sunday afternoon.

No material or human damage have been reported.

A medical source also confirmed the Seiyun Hospital did not receive any cases due to the incident.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the moment the building fell and people were nearby.

The old city of Seiyun is experiencing collapses of old and abandoned mud houses, especially during the rains amid calls from citizens for the authorities to move to demolish them as they are located on the streets of the city.

In the past two years, three people, including a woman, have died in two separate incidents, one of which was as a family passed by a collapsed house while shopping at a market.
