Al-Thawra Hospital Chairman discusses with ICRC health program director medical support
The Chairman of al-Thawra Modern General Hospital in Hodeida province Dr. Khaled Suhail has discussed with the Director of the Health Program of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Dr. Karen Helen the cooperation and support provided by the Committee to the Authority.
Dr. Suhail noted at the meeting that the authority needs help in repairing the technical defect in the oxygen station, which has been out of operation for some time.
He reviewed the most prominent difficulties facing the authority, including the severe shortage of medicines, anesthetics, and medical supplies for public emergencies, combating epidemic diseases and physiotherapy due to the scarcity of capabilities, calling for the need for international organizations to intervene in support the authority’s efforts in implementing its activities and humanitarian duties.
He reviewed the most prominent difficulties facing the Authority, including the severe shortage of medicines, anesthesia, medical supplies for general emergencies, combating epidemic diseases and physiotherapy because of the scarcity of potential, calling for the intervention of international organizations to support the efforts of the Authority in the implementation of its activities and its humanitarian duties.
The director of the health program and the chairman of the water and housing department at the ICRC Eng. Nicola was briefed on the level of medical services at the children’s and public emergency centers, the operating room, and the oxygen station.
She also was listened to the clarifications from the authority chairman about the level of services in the various hospital facilities and the tangible development after the organizations’ interventions.
Karen and Nicola explained the aim of the visit is to assess the support provided to the authority during the last period and to identify it’s the most important needs and services it provides to patients.
They praised the level of development and the high turnout at the hospital, emphasizing that the ICRC’s interventions and support for the hospital during the coming period will include various fields.
