Transport Ministry, Civil Aviation Authority: Aggression’s Closure of Sana’a Airport Created Humanitarian Disaster, Violates All Int’l Covenants
The Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority held, on Sunday, an event for four years of air blockade on Sana’a International Airport.
“Today we utter a cry of defiance in the face of this aggression that closed Sana’a International Airport for four years in a row,” Minister of Transport, Major General Zakaria Al-Shami said during the event.
“The aggression’s closure of Sana’a airport has created a humanitarian disaster, which left tens of thousands of deaths and threatened hundreds of thousands of patients with death,” he added.
Al-Shami pointed out that the crimes of aggression exposed the falsehood of the United Nations’ claim of its impartiality and emphasized its lack of all human values.
The Minister of Transport indicated that Sana’a Airport will completely stop receiving international and humanitarian flights due to the lack of fuel.
For his turn, the Head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology Mohammad Abdulqadir confirmed that the US-Saudi aggression continues its criminal work by closing Sana’a airport since August 9, 2016
“The aggression’s closure of Sana’a airport is a violation of all international covenants and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” he added, noting that the crime of closing Sana’a airport has left a humanitarian catastrophe for the residents of 11 governorates, primarily the patients and students.
“The Civil Aviation Constitution stipulates the sovereignty of each country over the space above its territory, the closure of the Sana’a airport is a violation of this global constitution,” Abdulqadir affirmed.
The head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology pointed out that the aggression, by its deliberate bombing since its inception, destroyed Sana’a airport equipment with the aim of getting it out of readiness.
