Health Minister: Organizations’ Withdrawal from Supporting Health Sector, Political Decision
An expanded meeting, for directors of hospitals and health authorities in the capital, Sana’a, and the governorates, was held, Tuesday, due to the international organizations decision to withdraw from supporting the Yemeni health sector.
Public Health and Population Minister, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel, considered the organizations’ decision to be a political decision. It comes in light of the state resources’ scarcity because of the aggression control of its resources and wealth sources.
He stressed that we cannot separate the organizations ’decision from the economic pressure’s path by the aggression.
The Minister warned that thousands of people with chronic diseases are at risk of death because of the continued siege and the scarcity of life-saving medicines.
He pointed out that they have already stopped the incentives for doctors and health staff working in hospitals, noting that it comes at a time when the aggression continues preventing oil derivatives.
The Minister indicated that the Ministry is studying solutions to prevent the health services’ suspension in the country, warning of the serious situation.
