6.6-magnitude earthquake hits central Philippines
A powerful earthquake shook the central Philippines on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey reported.
According to the US Geological Survey, he magnitude of 6.6 quake, which struck at 8:03 a.m. local time, hit at a depth of 21 km, about 7 km southeast of Cataingan town of Masbate province.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute said the earthquake in the central Philippines was estimated to have a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale.
No further details were provided of material damage or injuries from the earthquake.
