78 Recorded Violations by US-Saudi Aggression in Hodeidah

The Liaison and Coordination Officers’ Operations Room, which monitors violations of the Stockholm Agreement and Ceasefire, reported that the US-Saudi aggression in Hodeidah recorded 78 violations during the past 24 hours.

A source in the operations room stated that the violations included two infiltration attempts of Saudi forces and the flying of two spy drones over Attohayta district. A military bulldozer operated by the US-Saudi forces developed combat fortifications in Al-Jabalyah and Attohayta.

On a daily basis, Saudi-led aggression violates the UN-backed agreement, reached between the warring sides during a round of UN-sponsored peace negotiations in Sweden in December 2018.

The agreement committed the parties to an immediate ceasefire in the city of Hodeidah and the ports of Hodeidah, Salif and Ras Issa, redeployment of forces, securing the ports, the establishment of the joint Redeployment Coordination Committee chaired by the United Nations, and the use of the revenues of the ports to support civil service salary payments.

The violations also came despite claims by the invaders that they were halting military operations in support of United Nations peace efforts and to avoid further spread of the new coronavirus in Yemen.

On April 8, Riyadh claimed it would halt all military operations for two weeks to counter the spread of the Coronavirus. Then it announced on April 24, that it was extending the unilateral ceasefire by one month. But since then, it has violated the ceasefire numerous times.

The head of the National Delegation Mohammed Abdulsalam has dismissed the ceasefire claim as “false and misleading”, saying the coalition of aggression had even escalated their offensives against Yemen.
