US records 1,700 new death cases of coronavirus within 24 hours
The United States has recorded more than 1,700 new death cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the past 24 hours, a significant decline from the previous day’s 2,751 deaths.
Data released by Johns Hopkins University at 20:30 local time showed that in 24 hours, the Covid-19 epidemic claimed 1,738 lives in the United States, bringing the total number of death toll in the country to 46,583.
The total number of laboratory-confirmed infections in the United States has risen to 839,675, with nearly 4.5 million people to date tested for Covid-19.
The United States, where the first Covid-19 death was recorded at the end of February, is the country most affected by the epidemic, in terms of the number of deaths and infected.
New York State is the country’s largest focus of Covid-19, with more than 15,000 deaths alone, one-third of the epidemic.
On Wednesday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the state had recorded 474 death cases of people living with the virus in 24 hours.
He noted that cases requiring to be hospitalized or even in intensive care wards have decreased, while the crisis in the state continues to “decline slightly”.
