Prestige of Western weapons falls apart in Yemen
Saudi-led coalition’s “Tornado” plane collapsed over Jawf province after it was hit on Friday by a missile from the Yemeni air defenses system, announcing the fall of the Western weapon prestige in Yemen, which represented the spearhead of the coalition in its war against Yemen, including British Tornado aircraft.
The Tornado aircraft is considered one of the finest pieces of the British Royal Air Force because of its superior maneuverability. It is a multi-tasking plane and can chase several targets at once. It is also equipped with air-to-surface missiles and anti-radiation and radar missiles, enabling it to protect itself against air defense missiles.
The Saudi Royal Air Force possesses 72 aircraft of this type and uses them in its war on Yemen, as these planes have remained neutral from the Yemeni air defenses throughout the war years, due to their unique advantages and their ability to deal with multiple air defense weapons.
During the past five years, the Yemeni Air Force worked to develop an air defense system to deal with all the targets that cross the sky of Yemen.
The Yemeni air defense systems manufactured locally since the beginning of 2017 were able to neutralize the American spy planes of “M-Q” type and the Chinese “Wing Loong” aircraft, reaching the neutralization of Apache aircraft at the end of 2019.
Today, the Yemeni air defense systems were able to neutralize the British “Tornado” planes and bring them out of service, inaugurating a new stage of deterrence that will overturn the military equation in their favor, and bringing down the prestige of the Western weapon, which has represented the strongest weapon of the coalition over the past five years of the war.
