Telecommunication Minister: Ministry’s Losses Amounted to 3.5 Billion Dollars Due to US-Saudi Aggression

The Minister of Telecommunication, Engineer Musfer Al-Numair, said that the raids of the US-Saudi aggression destroyed 30% of the telecommunication infrastructure, noting that the telecommunication losses amounted to 3.5 billion dollars.

Eng. Musfer clarified, in an interview with Al-Masirah newspaper, Tuesday, that the aggression prevents the entry of telecommunication equipment and equipment needed to maintain and replace what was destroyed.

He added that “the Ministry called on the United Nations and the European Union to neutralize telecommunication and to lift the embargo, and unfortunately we did not find a response.”

He continued, “We have a number of submarine cables and the aggression prohibited us from using them,” adding “we have created alternative and temporary solutions to keep the internet services working during the interruption of the Falcon cable, which it is in need of repair.”

The Minister of Teleommunication indicated that the operating company stated that it will begin repairing the cable in mid-February.
