Deputy Agriculture Minister stresses importance of producing crop seeds locally

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Majid al-Mutwakil on Monday emphasized the importance of developing the productivity of seeds of vegetables and other crops locally, as one of the most important strategic objectives of food security.

At the opening of a seminar held in Sanaa on the production of seeds and agricultural fertilizers locally, al-Mutwakil indicated that that represents a real battle facing the agricultural sector, which would contribute to providing the needs and requirements of food security in the country, instead of importing them from abroad.

Al-Mutwakkil underlined the private sector’s role in developing the seed productivity as an important economic resource, confirming the Ministry’s keenness to encourage the private sector to invest in this field.
