The Victims in Douma, Gaza and Yemen
By: David William Bear
In their book Manufacturing Approval, Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky distinguish between two types of victims: worthy victims and non-deserving victims. The “deserving victims” are the victims (the real and the alleged) leaders on the list of the enemies of the United States. The “untrue victims” are from the United States and its state, such as Israel and Saudi Arabia.
The US gang, calling itself the “international community,” is angry when there are victims who deserve it. For example, the US ambassador to the United Nations, Nicky Halley, holds pictures of Syrian children killed by the world. Grave victims give human rights.
For example, the serious victims are the 50,000 Yemeni children who died of hunger due to the total siege imposed by Saudi Arabia on Yemen, including the blockade of food, water and medicine. Unusual victims are blamed for being victims and ignored by the international community and the mainstream media. Not deserving of victims who do not deserve human rights. Yemen is a humanitarian disaster that is ignored, because Saudi Arabia is a friend of the United States
There is no anger from the United States when Saudi Mohammed bin Salman (SPB) hurls US-made bombs from US-made aircraft and indiscriminately massacred Yemeni men, women and children. MsB is the new darling of neo-conservatives, and Thomas Friedman writes the words of praise as if it were really nice to be an absolute king in the 21st century. The late Robert Barry Friedman and the neoconservatives described it as “separate from reality”.
For weeks, tens of thousands of Gazans have been legally protesting their right to return to their homes in Palestine. There is no anger when Netanyahu and his regime order Israeli soldiers to kill them. Hundreds of Palestinians were shot on Earth Day and during demonstrations for the right of return. Netanyahu has the full support of the United States so that there will be no anger and will not pay for his crimes. Netanyahu has every reason to believe that the United States will protect him, as the United States has done many times in the past. Nicky Haley will not hold pictures of the dead Palestinian children. Instead, it will protect Netanyahu from criticism and accuse his critics of being anti-Semitic. Netanyahu’s victims are unworthy victims.
The Palestinians who were slaughtered in Gaza were inside the Israeli fence, which had been imprisoned for more than ten years. They were on Palestinian land. Did not pose any threat to the Israeli soldiers who were on the Israeli side of the checkpoint. The soldiers had telescopic sights on their rifles and fired from more than 100 yards. Hundreds of Palestinians were injured by illegal smashing bullets that were banned under the Hague Declaration of 1899. Netanyahu’s orders were illegal and soldiers committed war crimes by following illegal orders. The Nuremberg trials after World War II declared that “following orders only” was not a defense against war crimes.
Two million Palestinian refugees have been trapped in Gaza for more than a decade. Gaza has been turned into an inhumane detention camp in the open air. People in Gaza have been cut off from the outside world. They live under siege and Israel controls everything and everything that enters or leaves the Gaza Strip. What is entering is barely enough food for Gazans to survive. Netanyahu screams that he has put Gaza on a diet. Patients, wounded and occupiers are not permitted to leave Gaza to go to hospital for medical treatment without Israeli permission. Netanyahu rarely gives this permission. The victims of Netanyahu are victims who deserve no blame and are blamed for being victims.
In 2006 Israel tightened the noose around Gaza’s neck by imposing a total blockade by air, land and sea of Palestinians living in Gaza. The supposed crime for which Israel imposed an illegal collective punishment on Gazans is that they democratically elected the wrong government, against Israel’s wishes. Instead of electing the Israeli controlled Palestinian National Liberation Movement, known as Fatah, Gazans elected the Islamic Resistance Movement, known as Hamas. Israel used to consider Fatah a terrorist organization, but now it does not because they are collaborators. Instead Israel, which secretly backed the formation of Hamas in a divide and conquer strategy, now considers Hamas a terrorist organization. Netanyahu falsely accuses that the demonstrators are Hamas terrorists.
President Trump’s order to attack Syria on the basis of the alleged use of chemical weapons is a violation of international law. The United States is not an international policeman, judge and executioner.
“All members in their international relations shall refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State or in any other manner contrary to the purposes of the United Nations.”
The only legal uses of force in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations are for self-defense and when the force is delegated by the Security Council.
