Yemenis give the solution to end the sufferings

Y.A

Dozens of Yemenis gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York and Sanaa International Airport’s gate, protesting against the years-long, crippling embargo imposed by a Saudi-led military coalition on the international airport in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a.

At the rally in Sana’a, the participants denounced the international community’s silence towards closure of the airport continued by the coalition states over three years, calling on the United Nations to pressure on the aggression coalition to stop the war and lift siege on the sea, land airport for the Yemeni patients, civil and humanitarian flights.

Yemenis , ealrly in August, gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York in front of the UN building ,demanding that the world body take action to end the siege on the Sana’a International Airport.

They held signs that said the embargo had practically turned Yemen into a large prison as some 70 percent of Yemenis used to travel abroad via the airport in the capital. They also demanded the removal of the Saudi-imposed siege on all Yemeni seaports and airports.

On August 10, hundred of thousands of Yemeni people staged a demonstration in front of the main gate of Sanaa International Airport under the slogan “The continuation of the air embargo and the blockade is an American crime”.

The Norwegian Refugee Council and Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), for their parts, said in a statement that the four-year suspension of services at the capital’s airport amounted to a “death sentence” for many ill Yemenis.

Health Minister Taha al-Mutawakel said over 42,000 Yemeni patients have been died due to the ongoing siege by the Saudi-led coalition on Sanaa International Airport since the last three years.

The ministry said in a statement that more than 350 thousand patients, including women and children, are suffering from cancers and other diseases, need to travel to aboard for treatment, holding the coalition countries full responsible for consequences of the siege, which pushes millions of the Yemeni people to starvation and causes in spreading of diseases and epidemics.

Yemen is in its third year of Sana’a International Airport’s complete shutdown for passengers and patients in need, due to the coalition’s blockade.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
